The Rev. Helen Smith is a graduate of Knox College, Toronto and has served congregations in Edmonton, AB (St. Andrew’s), Chatham, ON (St. James and New St. Andrew’s, Dover) and Thornhill, ON, the latter two in a team ministry with her husband, the Rev. Robert Smith. She also served for nine years at Evangel Hall, an inner city mission of the Presbyterian Church in Canada, in downtown Toronto, as Program Director and for two years as the Director of Camp Kannawin in Alberta. Most recently she was the minister on staff at a downtown agency for the homeless in Calgary, Calgary Urban Project Society, or CUPS.
For the larger church, Helen has served on the Church Doctrine Committee, the Justice Ministries Advisory Committee, and now serves on the Life and Mission Agency. Ecumenically she has served on the Caribbean and North American Area Council of the World Alliance of Reformed Churches and is a member of Kairos Calgary.
Helen enjoys reading, cross country skiing, hiking, baking bread and cheering on the Calgary Flames and Ottawa Senators. Bob and Helen have three adult children, Laura in Ottawa, Jim and Dwight in Toronto.
