Presbyterian Sharing - www.presbyterian.ca/sharing/

Presbyterians Sharing is the national church fund that supports the mission and ministries we do together in Canada and around the world.

Presbyterians are sharing in a wide range of ministries from encouraging and equipping congregational renewal and development, to supporting inner city, native, refugee, urban, remote and chaplaincy ministries in Canada, to sending mission personnel to work with international partners.  Through Presbyterians Sharing we support work in Taiwan, Ukraine, Malawi, Kenya, Guyana, Nicaragua, and many other countries.  We support Presbyterians Sharing through our offerings.

Presbyterian World Service and Development - www.presbyterian.ca/pwsd/

Presbyterian World Service and Development is the development and relief agency of the Presbyterian Church in Canada.

“PWS&D gladly serves women and men, young and old, according to their need and regardless of their faith… We are committed to development involving men and women in activities that restore human dignity, ease the pain of want, promote self help and encourage community cooperation.”
PWS&D Mission Statement

Centennial provides financial support for PWS&D through emergency appeals and more longterm appeals for development projects, usually during Lent.  This year we supported the Garu Community Based Rehabilitation Centre in Ghana.

Calgary Interfaith Food Bank - www.calgaryfoodbank.com

The third Sunday of the month is Food Bank Sunday.  Donations of canned and dry foodstuffs are collected for the Calgary Interfaith Food Bank. A volunteer makes sure these are delivered to the Food Bank in a timely manner.

Acadia Place  - www.acadiaplace.com

Acadia Place is housing for families who are homeless or on the verge of homelessness.  Centennial helps out with spring and fall clean up, and special celebrations throughout the year such as the summer picnic and the Christmas party.  We also provide financial help to pay down the mortgage and keep the rents low, including participation in the Coldest Night of the Year Walk every February.

Children's Cottage  - www.childrenscottage.ab.ca

Every December we put up the mitten tree in the sanctuary and hear the story of the mitten tree.  The tree is then decorated with mittens, hats, scarves, all for the children who are helped through the Children’s Cottage Society.  Children's Cottage Society's mission is: Preventing harm and neglect to all children and building strong families through support services, respite programs and crisis nurseries.

Samaritan's Purse  - www.samaritanspurse.ca

In the fall we participate in the shoebox campaign.  Shoeboxes are filled with toys, hygiene items, school supplies and treats, to be delivered to a child in the developing world by Samaritan’s Purse.

Canadian Bible Society  - www.biblesociety.ca

Stamps are collected and donated to the Canadian Bible Society.  They are able to sell the stamps and the money is used to provide Bibles to people who do not have them.  When you trim your stamps off your envelopes, be sure to leave a healthy margin of the envelope around all the edges.

Eyeglasses are collected in an ongoing project called Eyeglasses for the Phillipines.  One of our members makes sure these are delivered to the Phillipines, helping improve the eyesight of many.
